About this event

The Robert Menzies Institute is proud to be hosting renowned Military Historian Peter Edwards, who will be discussing the military conflicts of the Menzies era.

Peter will reflect on the way the Menzies Government committed forces to the Korean War, the Malayan Emergency, the Indonesian Confrontation, and the Vietnam War, and propose some lessons that we can draw from these commitments.

Peter Geoffrey Edwards AM is an Australian military historian and honorary professor. He was appointed Official Historian and general editor of Official History of Australia's Involvement in Southeast Asian Conflicts 1948-75, a nine-volume series commissioned to cover Australia's involvement in the Malayan Emergency, Indonesia-Malaysia confrontation and Vietnam War. He authored two volumes; Crises & Commitments (1992), which analysed the political and diplomatic history of Australia's involvement in the three conflicts up to 1965, and A Nation at War (1997) which covered the diplomatic, political and social history of Australia's Vietnam War from 1965 to 1975.

This event will function as the RMI’s commemoration of ANZAC Day.

Please note that it is a requirement for anyone attending campus to be fully vaccinated.
